We are always looking for volunteers to support the Whitman All Sports Boosters Club! The information below describes how you can volunteer by joining the Board, participating as a team representative, or supporting our fundraisers and/or communications throughout the year.
There are also many ways for parents to get involved and support our teams beyond the WASBC official positions.
Join the Board!
To all Whitman parents who have student-athletes OR who just love Whitman sports, we invite you to join our Board! We typically do most of our work via email/phone, but we have 4-5 in-person meetings at night during the school year at Whitman with AD Bill Toth and Principal Miller. During Board meetings we hear from Team Reps, approve expenditure requests from our coaches and coordinate our fundraising efforts.
Board positions and brief description:
- President– Oversees all aspects of the Whitman All Sports Booster Club (WASBC), leads Board meetings, works closely with Athletic Director(AD) and School administration.
- Treasurer – Manages all financial and accounting aspects of the WASBC including reconciling bank accounts, Paypal, paying invoices, creating monthly financial statements and annual tax payments.
- Recording Secretary – Creates agendas and Meeting Minutes for Board Meetings.
- Communications Chair – Manages all communications including Whitnet and ParentVue emails, Whitman Week Ahead. Works closely with Membership Chair, AD and School administration.
- Membership Chair – Works closely with Communications Chair and Team Representatives to ensure we have maximum participation by teams.
- Mock ACT/SAT Chair – Works closely with Capital Educators, School administrators and Communications Chair to offer Mock ACT/SAT tests throughout the school year.
- Website Chair – Manages our whitmanboosters.org website. Works closely with Bethesda web design and the entire board to supply content and keep the website updated.
- Ad Sales Chair– Oversees advertising sales for signs we hang at the stadium, fields and gymnasium. Works closely with NextDaySigns and our Treasurer.
- Mulch Sales Chair – Oversees our Spring Mulch Sale Fundraiser. Works closely with Denchfield Nursery, Communications Chair and Treasurer.
- Concessions Chair – Collects cash from Concessions on a weekly basis and delivers to the treasurer for deposit. Works closely with the Treasurer and Whitman Asst AD to ensure concessions are well equipped and stocked each week.
- Viking Sportsmanship Award Chair – Works with coaches of all teams each season to ensure they submit a recipient for the award.

Be a Boosters Team Rep!
Each team has a Team Rep, who acts as a bridge between your team and WASBC to help parents better understand how we support Whitman Athletics and encourage participation by paying the suggested $55 annual membership dues. For teams that have the concession stand open, the Team Reps also, many times, will help secure volunteers to work a few games a season. Team Reps are also encouraged to:
- Attend Board meetings
- Share team updates and photos with our Communications Chair
- Help coordinate or lead fundraisers when appropriate
Get involved with our teams!
Walt Whitman HS is a big high school and as such, our teams are big and require a lot of support from parents to function smoothly. On game days, team parents may help to coordinate rides, meals, film, PA announcements, ticket taking and concessions. Beyond game days, team parents coordinate communications, Senior Nights, Community Nights and team banquets. There is always a need for volunteers—get involved! Don’t hesitate to reach out to your Team Rep to see how you can help.
Sell concessions at games!
Concession sales at Whitman games are coordinated by the WASBC and the profits help to underwrite equipment and physical improvements to Whitman’s fields and gym. Our concession stand at Jerome Marco stadium is open in the Fall and Spring for our Football, Soccer, Field Hockey and Lacrosse games. The concession stand outside the gymnasium is open during the Winter Season for Basketball games and Wrestling matches. WE NEED PARENTS to help by volunteering to work a few games a season. We suggest if your student is on JV you work the varsity game, and vice versa, so you don’t miss your child’s game. Usually the Team Rep oversees securing these volunteers. This is a fun way to meet other parents and support our Athletics Department.
Participate in a Fundraiser!
The WASBC raises funds through our membership dues, Mock ACT/SAT, Ad Sales, Spring Mulch Sale, our online Merch Shop and team fundraising events like soccer and cheer clinics and lacrosse Christmas tree sale. Teams are encouraged to work with WASBC to create their own fundraising event that benefits the whole Whitman community and provide a fun team building event for the kids.
