Welcome to the All-Sports Booster Club

Welcome!

The All-Sports Booster Club is a group of parents that raise money to support all Whitman varsity and junior varsity athletics.  Founded in 1995, in response to new mandates from MCPS concerning gender equity under Title IX, it replaced individual team booster clubs.  Family memberships and donations provide about one-fifth of the total funds raised.  The rest comes in concession sales at sporting events, Viking Spirit advertisements, the annual mulch sale, practice SAT fundraiser and individual team sponsored fundraisers.

In addition to direct support, all teams benefit because Booster Club support augments the Athletic Department budget that is only partially funded by the county and state.  This allows for more funds to be available to support athletic safety and to enhance athletic competency.  All Whitman students benefit because much of our funding goes to improve athletic facilities.

Welcome to Walt Whitman, Dr. Goodwin

Dear Parents, Students, Athletes and Coaches,

Welcome to Walt Whitman High School.  Our athletic program is a key component in our students’ high school experience, and I am grateful that you are here to support it.

Walt Whitman has a strong tradition of excelling in a wide range of sports, while maintaining a spirit of fine sportsmanship.

I hope you can join us for numerous events, and please help the players concentrate by displaying good sportsmanship as you cheer for them.

Thank you.

Alan Goodwin, Principal

Athletic Director, Andy Wetzel

To all competitors and fans,

Welcome to the Walt Whitman High School sports complex.  We thank you for our good sportsmanship and competition.  It is my experience that you will support the athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers in a positive and respectful way.  They all put in countless hours of work and preparation.  Please show your appreciation by being positive.  Please help keep our facilities clean.  There are many trash receptacles in the area.

We have made many improvements over the years. With the help of our All-Sports Booster Club we actively maintain two of the best playing surfaces in Montgomery County.  Our Booster Club supports all of our athletic teams.

We have a great community and wonderful parents.  Enjoy the competition and thanks for your support.

Andy Wetzel, Athletic Director

Physical Day and Concussion Baseline Testing

June 2, 8:00 am – Noon

The Whitman All-Sports Booster Club sponsors physicals and concussion and baseline testing for all athletes.  Announcements will be made as to dates and times and you may check whitmanathletics.org any time for more information.

A sports physical will clear a student for ALL ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES during the entire school year.

Take advantage of this opportunity to get all of your required paperwork completed before summer begins.  The sports physical is a screening exam and is not meant to substitute for  a full annual examination.  If any problems are detected at the screening, the athlete will be referred to his or her family doctor.

For more information and all required forms to go Whitman Athletics.  All proceeds generated from these fundraisers will go to the Whitman All-Sports Booster Club.

CONCUSSION BASELINE TESTING WILL ALSO BE INCLUDED FOR ATHLETES WHO DIDN’T TAKE THE TEST LAST YEAR

Mulch Sale

The annual mulch sale will be March 17, 2018
