How to WATCH:

  • www.WhitmanAthletics.net:  To find JV/Varsity game schedules, click on the season (Fall, Winter, Spring) at the top of the homepage and then the desired team’s name.  Or, click on the “Calendar” tab to see a view of all upcoming games.
  • X – @WWHSAthletics:  Our Athletic Director Bill Toth tweets current updates here and tags many of our teams’ specific X feeds.
  • Instagram:  @WhitmanSports – our newest social media site!
  • “NFHS Network” app and www.NFHSNetwork.com:  Many of our JV/Varsity games are livestreamed during all 3 seasons!  There are permanent cameras placed in our main gym and Marco Stadium.  Simply subscribe and “Follow” Whitman.  Free replays after 3 days!
  • “GoFan” app:  Use this app to buy tickets to cheer on our Vikings in person.  All ticket sales now go through GoFan.  You may buy single tickets or season passes here.

How to SUPPORT:

  • Whitman All-Sports Boosters Club:
    • Annual Family Membership Dues – click the “Join/Donate” tab above:  Please join us!  Our annual family membership dues are $55 (or any amount.)  These dues cover all JV/Varsity sports, for every season, for your entire family.  We fund many athletic improvements and safety enhancements for our Vikings and whole community (i.e. electronic message board on front school sign, new stadium turf/scoreboard/speakers, gym floors renovation, weight room additions, team bags/equipment/mats/balls/training aides, etc…)
    • NEW Whitman Spiritwear online store:  Got Whitman swag?  We do!  Click the “Shop” tab above.  Our store is open 24/7 and features hundreds of sport-specific and general “Whitman” items.  10% of the proceeds go to our club!
    • Mock SAT/ACT Tests:  All of our Whitman students (primarily 10th/11th graders) are invited to take these practice tests at Whitman in the fall and spring each year.  Mock tests are a great way for our students to gain familiarity with the test formats, build confidence, and decide which test, the ACT or the SAT, is a better fit.
    • Holiday Tree Sale:  Our boys lacrosse team typically sells holiday trees, wreaths, and goodies every December at Whitman in the parking lot.
    • Mulch Sale in the spring:  Order online and have mulch delivered to your door.
    • Concessions at games:  Everything is better with food and drinks!
    • Advertising:  You’re invited to publicize via signs in Jerome Marco Stadium, our gym, and/or our baseball field and via our website.  Email Mike DeRosa for details at mike.derosa@verizon.net.
    • Team youth clinics and other fundraisers:  Many of our teams share their love for their respective sports with our future Vikings!  Clinics are a fun way for younger kids to learn from our current students.  Updates on these clinics and fundraisers are typically included in WhitNet’s “Community Announcements” and other platforms.
  • “The Black and White” and NEW play-by-play!:  (www.theBlackandWhite.net)  Whitman’s official student-run newspaper (online and print) spotlights many of our sports teams regularly.  Also, tune in to their live play-by-play sportscasts via www.BWPressBox.com!
  • “Whitman Shorts”: “Whitman Shorts” is a student-directed broadcast journalism course that showcases students and extracurricular activities.  Go to our main Whitman website, and then click “Whitman Shorts” on the left side column under “WWHS Publications.”
  • Other ways to find sports’ info:  Whitman administrators send periodic updates via ParentVue and ConnectEd.  Also, via WhitNet, some sports info is listed here:  “Morning Announcements,” “Whitman Week Ahead”, and Friday’s “Community Announcements”.

How to PLAY:

Below are Whitman’s four main types of sports programs:

  • JV/Varsity Sports (www.WhitmanAthletics.net):  In 2023, the Washington Post honored Whitman as the “Best Sports Program in MCPS!”  Whitman students play on ~50 JV/Varsity teams which compete against other MCPS schools.  Examples include soccer, basketball, swim/dive, football, track and lacrosse. There are three primary seasons:  fall, winter, and spring.  Our JV/Varsity sports are funded by both MCPS and our Whitman All-Sports Boosters Club.  Our Whitman Athletic Director Bill Toth and Whitman coaches manage these teams.

Allied/Corollary Sports:  Our Allied/Corollary Sports include bocce, indoor softball, and pickleball. Their goal is to increase participation for all students, in particular students with disabilities.

For more info on our JV/Varsity/Allied/Corollary Sports, go to www.WhitmanAthletics.net.

  • Physical Education (P.E.):  Whitman students play sports during P.E. classes during the school day which are a part of our MCPS curriculum.  Every MCPS student must enroll in at least one year of P.E. to graduate.  Students most commonly take P.E. as 9th graders.  For more info, go to our Whitman website (www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schools/whitmanhs), click the “Counseling” tab, and review the Course Bulletin.
  • Student-run Clubs:  There are ~150 student-run clubs at Whitman and several of them are organized around an athletic activity.  Examples include tai-chi, yoga, rock climbing, and biking.  The activities often change from year-to-year depending on student interest.  Our Whitman PTSA sponsors a “Whitman Student Clubs Night” every fall.  https://www.whitmanptsa.org/
  • Outside organizations:  There are some unofficial “Whitman” teams managed by outside organizations.  They practice and compete off-campus at local facilities.  They are not officially affiliated with Whitman HS nor MCPS in any way.  Contact info is below.  Subject to change.
